Marina Bagić Babac is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Computing. She actively conducts scientific research in the field of social computing, studying human behaviour from social media data, and models algorithms applicable in various domains of machine learning and natural language processing.

She graduated from the Department of Telecommunications of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing with an emphasis on scientific research. She worked at STROM Telecom in Prague as a C/C++ programmer.

She obtained her Master's in Science degree with the thesis "Formal Model for Specifications of Mobile Telecommunication Agents" and a Doctor of Philosophy with a doctoral dissertation "Verification of Dynamic Epistemic Properties in Multi-Agent Systems". During her postgraduate studies, she studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Informatics, University of Maribor, and at the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, University of Ljubljana.

At the Faculty of Political Science, she obtained a Master's degree in journalism (Press and Public Relations).

She is currently a collaborator on several international projects related to linguistic data applications. She serves as a program committee member of a few international conferences, as an editorial member of a few journals, and as a reviewer in numerous international journals. Her research interests include natural language processing, machine learning, and social media.
